I'll start off my contribution with a collection of basic maps for a Classical orchestra using Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 which will give basic playback of dynamics and expressions. I am sure too that community members will offer to share maps and it will be only a matter of time before collections of maps will be available. Fortunately Dorico's Expression Maps are easy to create and if created just for instruments needed at a given time, then this eases the time investment and our maps collection soon mount up. The downside to this is that it does present another learning curve and time investment. As an example, Finale's 'Human Playback' works on a system of Expression Maps.ĭorico allows users to create their own maps giving unprecedented, control over playback. This is the same for all notation programs that offer full playback.
